PlayStation Portal Gets Exciting Updates: Cloud Streaming Beta and Enhanced Features!

Sony’s PlayStation Portal Remote Player just got a whole lot cooler! A new system update is rolling out, introducing refined audio features and, drumroll please… a Cloud Streaming Beta for PS Portal! Here’s the lowdown on what’s new:

Audio Enhancements

  • The speaker volume can now be lowered further when set to the minimum, giving you better control.
  • Adjust settings for your PlayStation Link device directly from the PS Portal menu, fine-tuning volume and sidetone levels to your liking.

Cloud Streaming Beta: A Game-Changer!

The highlight of this update is the Cloud Streaming Beta for PlayStation Plus Premium members. With this feature, you can stream PS5 games directly from PlayStation servers—even if you don’t own a PS5! Titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and more will be available to stream in up to 1080p/60fps, complete with DualSense controller features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Supported Regions: The beta is available in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and Japan, among others.

How to Join the Beta

  • Update your PS Portal to the latest system software.
  • Head to Settings and toggle on Cloud Streaming (Beta) in the Quick Menu.
  • Enjoy streaming games right from your PS Portal’s home screen!

What’s Missing in the Beta?

While this is an exciting start, features like PS Store game streaming, 3D audio, and game trials aren’t included yet. PS4 and PS3 games also remain unsupported for now.
