How the word counter works
Words are tokens split on whitespace. Characters are counted with and without spaces. Sentences end on . ! or ?. Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line. Reading time assumes 200 words per minute; speaking time assumes 130.
Useful limits
Google titles work best around 50–60 characters. Meta descriptions around 150. Twitter/X posts are 280. Instagram captions can be long, but the first 125 characters show before “more”.
Frequently asked questions
How does the word counter count words?
It splits on whitespace and ignores empty tokens, so “hello world” is 2 words. Hyphenated words count as one.
Is my text stored?
No. Counting happens in the page. Closing the tab clears everything.
What is reading time?
We assume 200 words per minute for silent reading and 130 for speaking — typical blog and speech estimates.
Can I see keyword density?
Yes. The tool lists the most common words (skipping short stop words) with counts and percentages.
Does it work for Hindi or Bengali?
Yes. Any Unicode text is counted. Words are still split on whitespace.
