How this image compressor works
Your browser decodes the file, optionally scales it to a max width, then re-encodes it at the quality you chose. WebP and JPEG use lossy compression; PNG stays lossless (quality is ignored). Because this runs locally, it is safe for screenshots, invoices and personal photos.
How to compress images without a visible drop in quality
- Start at 80% JPEG or WebP — that is the sweet spot for most photos.
- Cap width at 1920px for web and WhatsApp; use 1280px for blog posts.
- Prefer WebP when the destination supports it; it is usually 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same look.
- Keep PNG only for logos and screenshots with sharp text.
Frequently asked questions
Does this image compressor upload my photos?
No. Compression runs in your browser with the Canvas API. Files never leave your device.
Which formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP as input. You can export as JPEG, PNG or WebP depending on what your browser supports.
Will quality drop?
You control the quality slider. WebP and JPEG at 80% usually look the same as the original while cutting a large part of the file size.
Can I compress several images at once?
Yes. Add a batch, compress them together and download each file, or download all as a zip if your browser allows it.
Is there a file-size limit?
The limit is your device memory. Very large RAW files are not supported; use JPG/PNG/WebP photos and screenshots.
Is this tool free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no server upload.
